Types of advertising

Now we look at various types of advertising which are explained below:
1. Product advertising: Product is one of the Ps of 4 Ps of marketing. Philip Kotler says A product is anything that can be offered to a market for attention, acquisition, use or consumption. It includes physical objects, services, organizations and different ideas. Here the important point is that advertising plays an important role in promoting the product. Through advertisements, companies tell the consumers about all the features, benefits of the product. Advertisement of the product results in brand awareness and product knowledge and if the customer can associate with the brand and benefits of the product then we can easily achieve the advertisement objective. There are some elements which are included in product advertisements are psychic attributes of the product like taste, colour, texture, aroma, style, and design, packaging, trademark.

2. Service advertising: Services are intangible, inseparable and variable. Some of the examples of services are Banking, Education, Hotels, transportation etc. So service advertisement means the promotion of services by advertisement. Advertisement of Hdfc bank, LIC, Transportation services.

3. Public services advertising: Public service advertisement is designed for the benefit of the public and not for the profit motive. These ads are designed to creating awareness, educating and informing the customers. As we have seen the ad of  Pulse polio endorsed by Amitabh Bachchan where government try to create awareness among common people towards the importance of polio vaccine to eradicate polio from India.
School Chale hum Abhiyan where Government create awareness towards education among people.

4. Corporate Advertising: Incorporate advertising, an institution presents its own story to build up an image of itself in the minds of the public. Companies may emphasize on its contribution to society and it could also talk about the mission of the organisation. So the objective of corporate advertising is to create goodwill among the customers, to make the company and its product known to customers and to make the customers aware of the values of the company.

5. Global advertising: It is any paid form of non-personal presentation and promotion of ideas, goods and services by an identified global sponsor of a product to a global customer. The objectives of global advertising are to keep the worldwide corporate image, to reduce production creative costs and to avoid message confusion in international areas of media overlap.
